The central theory of Wassily Kandinsky’s abstraction idea was that there is such a thing as inner necessity that is capable of determining the outward form of a work of art without reference to anything. The task for an artist is first to establish and then to maintain contact with the inner sound and then to search for and commit to canvas it’s visual equivalent as form and color.

A good theory for some and help for others but there is still another way( for me)

you see a picture, say – a landscape -  make contact with your inner (sound?) {for lack of words} establish color and shape in your mind but the base of your vision is still the landscape and commit that to your canvas, don’t we have a better connection to that outcome?
