This ugly – does not know which way to grow – long green branches of a cactus – finely showed us the reason of its existence.
A one night – day – stand and four years of waiting.

I had planned to do more garden colors, the huge mob-heads
( Hydrangea arborescence) are showing off
and the strong scent of the pink phlox ( I like pink in my garden)
or the Echinacea everywhere, have a look
But somehow in my studio I squished out the blue from . . . → Read More: Changed my mind

 Don’t worry, be happy
Some days are just not “your day” – restless night – first thing you see in the morning – more clouds – next sight in my garden (before coffee) – oversized slug, right on the patio – so grab the salt, OK – next – more mole damage in the . . . → Read More: Don’t worry,be happy

From fun filled and sunny images to a more distressing subject.
(that is the nature of things)
Images of the Tsunami aftermath, one year later – a worry for all of us, the ocean will never be the same to me (had a similar feeling when man was landing on the moon, how can you ever . . . → Read More: Tsunami

OK - rainy season is over, stop painting that wet stuff
All painters do the poppy thing soon or later or at least ever so often, see the masters:
Emile Nolde G O’Keeffe
Van Gogh
So nothing is stopping me to paint a few more poppies, they are just so tempting and the right . . . → Read More: Puppy love for poppies

Rain can be beautiful. Now that the “never ending” wet spring is finely over, I can reflect on the images the rain had produced with admiration. While the wet stuff came down – all I could think is: “stop doing this’. Now I stand here at my easel and paint the rain, the warm . . . → Read More: COLORS IN THE RAIN

Shocking Bad news in today’s News Paper. Government wants to relax the logging regulations.
That means for me that I did get pushed around and kind of sneered at for nothing. We had moved from the Lower Mainland into a beautiful Village at the end of the Kootenay Lake.

 Poetry by Clemens Rettich
Business Coach, Writer, Workshop Leader
In the hot sun
Glued to the rocks
Grim and razor sharp
Dune grass and roses
Woven and rooted
Deep in the sand
Bending but rising
From any wind
Gulls on the shore
Heads tucked back
Waiting for the storm
Looking like
They will wait for . . . → Read More: It is in our blood

 This will be a short pleasure, these poppies need a lot of attention, they are unruly but sooo worth the work;
they need a large space, they only flower for 2 short weeks, need full sun and after flowering the large green leaves wilt and get yellow fast, the tip over in heavy rain or wind – but they are sooo pretty. . . . → Read More: Inspired by Red

Meet the Painter Welcome to my blog. This is written for you my readers and you who collect my paintings.
Because you are interested in my work you naturally want to know more about the creator - me - and that is why I started to write a bit about myself and the person behind the art work.
I have my studio in Abbotsford B.C. Canada but grew up on the small Island of Sylt in the German Noth Sea, the beginning of my fascination with water and the sky.
Please, feel free to email if you have any questions or comments!
