In the hot sun

Glued to the rocks

Grim and razor sharp

Dune grass and roses

Woven and rooted

Deep in the sand

Bending but rising

From any wind

Gulls on the shore

Heads tucked back

Waiting for the storm

Looking like

They will wait forever    the tide always floods again

                                                          I follow you out into open water

 

                                                     Hovering between blue and green

 

                                               Never looking up; never looking back

 

                                        Deep into the abyss under endless surges
